How is Turn That Frown Upside Down: The importance of Optimism in business

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Does An Abortion Hurt.

I am an optimist by nature. I'm definitely not advocating that you should blindly strive to merge this behavioral trait because it can get you into trouble in confident situations. On the personality spectrum of pessimist, realist and optimist as the three central coordinates, I would prefer to be more center right. Optimism with a touch of realism is a deadly compound because you have the right mentality to tackle life's challenges. You don't want to be overly optimistic or you will fail because you over-estimate your situation.. However, you definitely do not, and I repeat, do not want to allow the traits of pessimism permeate your enterprise environment. I will feature the top three reasons for this bold statement below:

Pessimists Cannot Lead: Can I see the hands of people who are inspired by Eeyore? Anybody? Seriously, nobody wants to head into battle with Eeyore at the helm? The fact of the matter is that pessimism breads mediocrity. Nobody wants to ensue a person who always sees the negative aspects of every situation, does not have faith in the outcome of calculated risks and thinks that the impossible should stay unattainable. Our stereotypical leaders are those individuals who think that life is here for the taking, and will reduce life and limb for their cause. In short, they are optimists. As we have witnessed in our political theater over the past 4 years, both fear and hope can resonate big time with the masses. The incompatibility in the middle of the two is that one inspires people to act while the other inspires people to hide.

Pessimism Destroys Creativity: Creativity and innovation evolve from believing in the impossible. In particular, the start-up world and bold enterprise endeavors involve a lot of blind faith. You have to have faith in yourself, your team and your beliefs. Without that faith, you will fail. Pessimism is one of the deadliest syndromes of a start-up for the sheer fact that it destroys creativity. Instead of mental freely with the "world is my oyster" attitude, you box yourself into a narrow-minded focus that revolves around proven concepts. Your movements and rationale only focus on precedent. Pessimistic attitudes from your leaders, team or your brain will dry up your creative juices to the point where they evolve into a dried up lump waiting to be discovered while your start-up autopsy.

Pessimism Hurts The wide Team Dynamics: Taking a step back and going into science mode, I pose the following question: "What do you think happens when you merge 1 part optimist with 1 part pessimist?" I'll save you the brain power and tell you that it results in a terrible team dynamic. How about this question, "What do you think happens when you merge 4 parts optimist with 1 part pessimist?" Again, I'll save you the brain power and tell you that it mimics the exact results that occurred in my earlier example. The long, drawn out point that I am trying to make is that it only takes one ardent pessimist to destroy a team dynamic. We have all been in team situations with one person who consistently shoots down every idea and thinks that it is a fatal sin to think exterior of the proverbial box. That one person can destroy the brittle ecosystem that forms when optimists get together and try to think big. I cannot stress this enough. If there is a malignant spot growing on your team in the form of a pessimist, cut it off immediately. You will save yourself and your team a lot of time, energy and money by aborting now before the stakes get too high.

Overall, those are just three reasons why optimism is an indispensable component of enterprise success. You have to remember that you are too talented, ambitious and free mental to get bogged down by people who cannot dream big. As I have stated, there is a very leading incompatibility in the middle of pessimists and realists, and I don't want to blur those lines. Realists are incredibly leading to teams, and they make sure that free floating optimists don't try to free solo the Washington Monument. Keep these individuals close, but kick their evil brethren to the curb.
